Obituary

The visitation for Esther Amanda Pasche, of Morris will be held on Saturday June 16, 2012 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris from 1 to 3 p.m. with a committal service following at Summit Cemetery, Morris. A separate memorial service, celebrating the life of Esther will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Morris with Reverend Donald Main officiating.

Esther Amanda Melchert, daughter of Herman E. and Sophia (Wente) Melchert was born on December 19, 1918 in Fairfield Township in Swift County, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended country school. Esther was baptized the same day she was born, by Rev. F. E. Pasche, who would later become her father-in-law. Esther was confirmed on May 22, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township by Reverend Risto. She was united in marriage to Reuben Pasche on August 30, 1939 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township in Stevens County. The couple made their home in Horton Township where they farmed for nine years. They moved to a farm near Donnelly, where they continued to farm and raise their children. In October of 1987, the couple retired and moved to Morris. Reuben went to his eternal home on October 22, 2005. Esther became a resident at the Skyview Court Assisted Living Center in Morris, before entering West Wind Village in May of 2012.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Ladies Guild. Esther and Reuben also were custodians at the church for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting and many crafts. Esther had wonderful vegetable and flower gardens. She always kept busy baking, canning or making items to sell. Esther also raised geese for several years, one year raising over 900 and she would then sell them to local grocery stores and families for their Christmas dinners. Most of all, Esther will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and "The Best Cook in the World".

She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 9, 2012 while at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having reached the age of 93.

Esther is survived by six children, Dean (Mary) Pasche, Ashland, OR, Marlis (Gene) Harstad, Lowry, MN, Joyce (Gary) Raymond, Bloomington, MN, Verlan (Barb) Pasche, Cambridge, MN, Stanley (Marge) Pasche, Alexandria, MN, and Donna (Joel) Swanson, Aberdeen, SD; one brother, Lloyd (Arlene) Melchert, Morris, MN; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
