Ginger (Gjerde) Hagen

Memorial services for Ginger Hagen of Alberta, MN will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta, with Reverend Tom Fangmeier and Minister Minette Stalheim Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Frog Lake Cemetery, rural Alberta.

Ginger Renae Gjerde, daughter of Olaf and Garnet (Leslie) Gjerde, was born December 21, 1942 in New London, Minnesota. In her younger years, her family lived in Volin, South Dakota and Alberta, Minnesota, eventually moving back to New London, where she graduated high school. She was united in marriage to Dean Hagen on October 8, 1960. Through this union four children were born. The couple and their children lived in Minneapolis, Hatfield, Wisconsin, Brandon, Minnesota and Harmony, Minnesota, before settling in Alberta, Minnesota.

Ginger enjoyed many family gatherings with food, cards and games. Ginger especially enjoyed time spent with family playing euchre, pinochle with siblings, spending time with her mom and sisters and traveling with her sisters. She was also well known for her delicious caramel rolls, her love of Elvis and her regular coca-cola!

Ginger died on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She was 74 years old.

She is survived by her husband: Dean Hagen of Alberta; three children: Michelle (Dan) Machart of Finley, ND, Jackie (Mark) Holslin of Alberta and Ken Hagen of Blaine; her mother: Garnet Gjerde of New London; six grandchildren: Christine Boprie of Fargo, ND, Kayla Hagen of Des Moines, IA, Amanda Holslin of Alberta, Justin Holslin of Alberta, Jake Machart of Finley, ND and William Holslin of Alberta;  one great-grandson: Charlie Boprie; siblings: Kenny (Ruthie) Gjerde of Spicer, Bobby (Denise) Gjerde of New London, Tommy (Sandy) Gjerde of Pennock, Sandy (Dick) Rutjes of Willmar, Rodney (Nancy) Gjerde of New London, Rhonda (Jim) Fangmeier of Paynesville and CarolMae (Mike) Kastel of New London; brother-in-law: Richard “Dick” (Linda) Hagen of Donnelly; sister-in-law: Beth (Bruce) Anderson of Princeton and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law: David and Jodi Hagen; her father: Olaf Gjerde; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Sig and Christine Hagen and Dean’s twin sister: Dona.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
