Alice Leverson

March 7, 1929 — June 1, 2008

Alice Jean Johnson, daughter of Glenis and Jeanie (Ferguson) Johnson, was born March 7, 1929 in Aitkin, Minnesota, where she grew up on Farm Island Lake. She attended country school and high school in Aitkin. Alice continued her education at the Abbott School of Nursing, receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse. Following her schooling, she moved to Fairmont, Minnesota, where she worked in the hospital. On October 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Leverson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minnesota by Pastor G.J.C. Gerike. Following their marriage the couple moved to the Lowry, Minnesota area, where they farmed and began raising their family. In the fall of 1966, Alice and Kenneth moved to Starbuck, where Alice worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years.



Alice was an active member of Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck and took part in the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed quilting, crosstiching, baking, nature watching and fishing. She was a loving and involved grandmother and mother.



Alice died on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 79 years.



She is survived by her husband: Kenneth Leverson of Starbuck; four children: Karen Leverson of New Hope, Janice (Robert) Danielson of Glenwood, Nora Leverson of New Hope and Jay Leverson of Starbuck; two grandchildren: Jessi and Jacque; one step-grandson: Rob Danielson and one brother: Allen Johnson of Aitkin. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Orvis Johnson; three sisters: Mae Tarr, Edna Hansen and Gladys Volker and one aunt: Eta Alice Johnson.



Pallbearers for the service are: Mark Leverson, Jerry Leverson, Darrell Leverson, Jay Leverson, Rick Leverson, Curtis Leverson, Bruce Leverson and Bob Danielson. Honorary pallbearers are: Roger Wagley, Ray Toivonen, Bob Frank, Bud Quitney, Harry Erickson, Dr. Robert Bosl and Mike Senf. Shari Opdahl will serve as organist for the service with Loch Lomond providing special music. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
