Alvina Schulz

Alvina Agnes Zinda, daughter of Stephan and Tecla (Rudnik) Zinda, was born December 14, 1928 in Holloway, Minnesota, where she was baptized on December 25, 1928 by Reverend F. J. Poplanski. She grew up in Minnesota and the Dakota's and attended school through the 8th grade. On November 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Marvin Schulz in Appleton, MN. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in the Morris area, where they farmed and raised their children. Alvina also worked as a waitress for many years at Trailway's CafAC. and later at Don's CafAC. in Morris. Following their retirement, the couple spent their summers in Hancock and wintered in Apache Junction, AZ. After Alvina's health declined, they moved to an apartment in Morris and in 2000, Alvina entered West Wind Village, where she continued to live until the time of her death.

Alvina was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris She was also a member of the Morris VFW and the American Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed traveling, camping and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Alvina died on Friday, December 15, 2006 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 78 years.

She is survived by: her husband: Marvin Schulz of Morris; two sons: David (Judy) Schulz of Hancock and Larry (Kim) Schulz of Brooten; one daughter: Gail (Einer) Hoffren of Carson City, NV; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one brother: Henry "Skip" (Bernice) Zinda of Appleton; one sister: Kathy (Robert) Brustuen of Appleton; daughter-in-law: Sharon Schulz of Villard. She was preceded in death by one son: Marvin Schulz, Jr; her parents; two brothers: Richard and Donald and two sisters: Eleanor Disinger and Carol Craig.

Pallbearers for the service are Delroy Schulz, Darold Schulz, Loren Becker, Steve Disinger, Randy Zinda and Michael Zinda. Honorary pallbearers are all of Alvina's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darlene Hennen will serve as pianist for the service with Holly Giese serving as song leader. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
