Anita Lindgren

April 15, 1947 — September 15, 2009

Anita Louise (Eddy) Lindgren was born on April 15, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN to Scott and Germaine (Pomerleau) Eddy. She attended and graduated from Holy Angels Academy in Richfield, MN.

She had a genuine desire to care for others, so she continued her education at St. Mary’s College in Minneapolis, MN graduating with a degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in a variety of settings. Some of these included working in an oncology unit at the University of Minnesota, a surgical nurse, a private duty nurse in Florida, and she also worked as a charge nurse.

She met and then married Gerald Wayne Lindgren on April 3, 1970 in Richfield, MN. Eventually after living in Florida and Arizona for a few years, they decided to “follow their heartstrings home to their roots” in Minnesota, as Nita would say. Anita always loved children and wanted a large family of her own. They decided they wanted to raise their family in the country, so they bought a farm and settled down in Hoff Township in Pope County, MN in April of 1974.

She became the loving and caring mother of three daughters and four sons. She was a devoted wife and mother, always displaying a self sacrificing spirit toward her family and others. Anita truly was as Proverbs 31:10-31 says “a capable wife”. Despite battling several illnesses for many years, she loved life and showed courage and strength through adversity. Displaying modesty was a natural part of Anita, even when ill, she took the attention off of herself and thought of others. Anita loved the farm and everything about farm life, even when times were difficult. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cooking a wide variety of delicious meals and sharing them with friends and family.

On December 31, 1983, Anita was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved reading and studying the Bible and took every opportunity to share Bible truth with others. She loved being out in nature enjoying Jehovah God’s creation, such gardening, feeding and watching birds, camping, hiking, and fishing, and vacationing in the Black Hills.

Anita died peacefully at her home on the farm with her family on September 15, 2009 at the age of sixty-two, after a seven and a half year battle with cancer. Anita is survived by her husband Gerald (Jerry) of Hancock, MN; her mother Germaine Reuterdahl of Bloomington, MN; her children of Hancock: Brigitte (Juan) Schommer, Erica (Justin) Kirwin, Elisa Lindgren, Ted Lindgren, John Lindgren, Ryan Lindgren, and Brett Lindgren; also four grandchildren, Samuel Schommer, Sophia Schommer, Annika Kirwin, and Jonas Kirwin; her sisters, Suzanne (Dennis) West of Minneapolis, MN, Sharon (Steve) Kimber of Crystal, MN, Colleen (Gene) Schilling of Hermantown, MN, and one brother Thomas Eddy of St. Louis Park, MN; and many other family and friends.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
