Bernice Brandt

The memorial service for Bernice F. Brandt of Morris will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Celebrant for the service will be Father Todd Schneider. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Morris.

Bernice F. Ring, daughter of Cornelius and Lena (Schellenberger) Ring was born on August 23, 1919 near Morris, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. After her schooling, Bernice worked on the family farm and helped care for her younger siblings. She was united in marriage to Earl Brandt on December 27, 1939 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Donnelly. To this union 8 children were born. The couple lived in Donnelly for a short time before making their home in Morris, where Bernice worked along with Earl as a janitor for the Legion Club and the 4 Seasons Supper Club. They also did yard work, mowing lawns, shoveling snow and raking leaves together. Earl and Bernice were able to share 53 years of marriage together before Earl's death in 1993. Bernice continued to live in Morris and entered the West Wind Village in August of 2002.

Bernice was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She loved baking and cooking. Her home was always open to visitors and family. Bernice will always be remembered for her kind heart and her hard work ethic.

Bernice died on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the West Wind Village in Morris. She was 95 years old.

She is survived by eight children: Joyce Elgin, Stromsberg, NE, Gerald "Oscar" (Germaine) Brandt, Thomas (Jeanne) Brandt, all of Morris, Gregory (Colleen) Brandt, Blaine, Deborah Brandt, Morris, Cynthia Barvels, Aberdeen, SD, Susan (Joseph) Michel, St. Paul and Kevin (Wendy) Brandt, Ramsey; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Catherine Ring Kellen and Florence Kjenstad, both of Morris. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two grandsons, Steven and David Elgin, one great-grandson, Levi James Manska, one great-granddaughter, Lynsie Paige Manska, son-in-law: Roland Barvels; one brother, Raymond Ring, two brothers-in-law, Alphonse Kellen and Herbert Kjenstad and two sisters-in-law, Lavonne Ring and Ruth Ring.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
