Bernice Jacoby

Bernice Elizabeth Jacoby, daughter of Albert and Mary (Benson) Berg was born on August 3, 1920 in Augsburg Township, Marshall County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Stephen, MN. She attended country school. She worked at a local restaurant and helped local farm families. On July 6, 1942 she married Clarence R. Jacoby at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock and they where married 56 years. After WWII they made their home in Hancock. She was a homemaker, active in the Ladies Society at St. John's Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary and was a Life Member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to be with her friends and Family. She loved children and would go out of her way just to greet them. She loved to spend time talking and joking with her grandchildren. Due to illness she moved from her home in October, 2002.



Bernice died August 24, 2007 from complications of Alzheimer's at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 87 years.



Survivors include her son: Michael and wife Adelle Jacoby of Hector, MN; daughter: Pamela Jacoby and her husband Ed Grabau of Woodland Park, CO; grandson: Jason and wife Lisa Jacoby of Sauk Rapids, MN; granddaughter: Heather Jacoby and husband Geoff Higginson of Vancouver (Surrey), BC, Canada; Granddaughter: Stephanie and husband Erik Crillion of Minneapolis, MN and great-grandchildren: Lauren Jacoby, Jacob Higginson, Esme, Max and Spencer Crillion and step- great-grandson: Q. Crillion. She is also survived by two sisters: Helen Anderson of Minneapolis and Mary Ann Hendrickson of Stephen. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1998; her parents; seven brothers and two sisters.



Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Matt Berg, Mark Berg, Terry Hendrickson, David Downing, Roger Anderson and Tom Anderson. Phyllis Joos will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
