Betty Stroman

Betty Stroman was born April 1, 1929 in Synnes Township, Minnesota to Milton J. Alice (Bahnsen) Foley. She grew up in the Alberta area and graduated from Alberta High School in 1947. After living and working on the west coast for a time, she returned to Alberta where she married Donald Stroman on September 16, 1950 at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, MN.

Betty and Don raised seven children while working together on their family farm south of Alberta. She enjoyed gardening and helped with the field work and chores.

They retired in 1987 and spent 17 winters in Arizona, meeting new friends and enjoying the warm winter weather. In 2007, they moved to Morris. She did not let dialysis keep her down, and stayed busy with crafts, crocheting, gardening and birdwatching. In addition to keeping in touch with her children and grandchildren via email and Skype.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Stroman of Morris; seven children: Diane (Larry) Macht of Raymond, Julie (Jim) Boyle of Alexandria, Keith (Karen) Stroman of Alberta, Beverly (Dennis) Panzer of Plymouth, Marie (Jim) Uhrich of Maple Grove, Marcella Stroman of Winsted and Kevin (Jeromy Peterson) Stroman of Bainbridge Island, WA; 15 grandchildren: MaryElin (James) Miller and Cameron (Sarah) Macht, all of Raymond, Trisha Boyle of St. Cloud, Jeff (Amy) Boyle of Cyrus, Peter (Katie) Boyle of East Grand Forks, Rachel Boyle of St. Paul, Joe Stroman of Morris, Charlie Stroman of Covington, GA, Casey Panzer of Miami, FL, Carolyn Panzer and Lauren Panzer of Plymouth, Abby Uhrich of Golden Valley, Alex Uhrich of Los Angeles, CA, Elias and Marco Stroman of Bainbridge Island, WA and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister: Donna (Russell) Larson of Chokio; brothers-in-law: Deane Osterman of Spokane, WA and Robert Toney of Portland, OR; sisters-in-law: JoAnne Foley of Alberta, Sonja (Bob) Stapel of Red Wing and Corrine Stroman of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son: Kenneth; parents: Milton and Alice Foley and siblings Mary Osterman and Richard Foley.





Memorials preferred to Stevens County Historical Society, in lieu of flowers.
