Clara Skoglund

Clara Helen Lusty, daughter of John and Ann (Davis) Lusty, was born November 20, 1914 in Spruce Hill Township in Douglas County, Minnesota. Reverend P. E. Ording at Spruce Hill Lutheran Church baptized Clara on March 14, 1915. Reverend P. E. Ording at Spruce Hill Lutheran Church confirmed her on July 28, 1929. Clara grew up in Spruce Hill Township and attended District 66 School through the eighth grade. She worked in neighbor?s homes doing house keeping and child care. Clara performed the same services while she was living in Dassel, MN and Minneapolis, MN. She also worked in the general store when she lived in Pendroy, MT. Clara was united in marriage on May 14, 1941 to Clifford W. Skoglund in her mother?s home in Spruce Hill Township. Reverend Maurice Swenson preformed the ceremony. The couple farmed until 1974, when they sold the farm and retired to Donnelly. In 1994 they moved to Morris.

Clara was very active in the Spruce Hill Lutheran church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and above all loved her family and friends.

Clara died on Friday, May 27, 2005 at the West Wing Village in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 90 years.

She is survived by her husband: Clifford W. Skoglund of Morris; daughter: Joan (Floyd) Miller of Donnelly, MN; Son: Keith (Dawn) Skoglund of Marystown; daughter-in-law: Joanne Skoglund of Savage; two grandchildren: Andrew (Maureen) Miller of Carlos, and Matthew Miller of Glenwood; two great-grandchildren: Carson and Parker Miller; sister: Maria Lustie of Alexandria, MN. Clara was preceded by her parents; son: Ronald Skoglund; brothers, Oliver, William and Leslie Lusty.

Pallbearers for the service are: Myron Skoglund, Robert Lusty, Bradley Lusty, Bruce Johnson, Richard Skoglund, and Brian Arvidson. Peggy Wilke will serve as organist and Marge Lusty will serve as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of arrangements.
