Curtis Wiese

December 16, 1944 — June 18, 2008

Curtis Lee Wiese, son of Clarence “Boots” and Edith (Thormodsgard) Wiese, was born December 16, 1944 in Morris , Minnesota . He was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock. He began his schooling at Hancock, where he graduated form Hancock High School in 1963. Curt continued his education at the Willmar Technical College , St. Thomas College and the Anoka-Ramsey Community College . Curt’s first job was with the Hancock Police Department. He then moved to Roseville , where he worked as a supervisor and then to Tracy , Minnesota , where he continued as Police Chief. In 1987, Curt returned to Morris, where he served as Chief of Police until 2001, when he retired. In 1996, Curt met the love of his life and best friend, Lori. They were united in marriage on May 17, 1997. The couple traveled all over the United States and Canada . Curt was diagnosed with ALS on August 2, 2006.





Curt was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, where he was received at the Easter Vigil in 2002. He also served in the United States Army.





Curt died on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at his home in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 63 years.





He is survived by his wife: Lori Wiese of Morris; six children: Steve (Melinda) Selk of Lakewood, CO, Beth (Brian) DeWenter of Osakis, Craig (Lisa) Selk of Hayfield, Cindy (Paul) Suedkamp of Coralville, IA, Tanya (Mike) Robillard of Manchester, CT and Kris Wiese of Manchester, CT; 14 grandchildren: Jacob, Andrew, Bryce, Kayla, Aaron and Adam Selk; Cody, Reid and Ali DeWenter; Alyssa, Cole and McKenna Selk and Megan and Joshua Suedkamp; one sister: Coleen (Keith) Koehl of Morris and one brother: Neil (Pam) Wiese of Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents.





Pallbearers for the service are: Chuck Nettestad, Ed Larson, Dennis Larson, Jim Beauregard, Dick VanMoorlehem and Dan “Digger” Murphy. Honorary pallbearers are: Tom and Tami Noel, Karla VanMoorlehem, David and Sharon Kill, Rose Murphy and the Monday AM Bible Study Ladies. Judy Carr will serve as pianist for the service with Ken and Linda Hodgeson providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
