David Bartell

April 10, 1931 — October 12, 2010

David Roylan Bartell, son of Fred and Elnora (Hilbrand) Bartell, was born April 10, 1931 at Applington, Iowa. While at a young age, his family moved to the Herman, Minnesota area to farm. After graduating from the Herman High School in 1949, David worked on the family farm until he was called into the U.S. Army in 1952. He served his country in Korea until his honorable discharge on March 26, 1954. On September 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Beverly Pauling, and this union was later blessed with four children.





David worked on building the taconite plant in Silver Bay, MN before working for a time with the Oliver Mining Co. They then moved back to the Morris area, where he worked for the USDA for 30 years. David also served in the National Guard while in Morris. Some of his hobbies included flying airplanes and going hunting with his buddy. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Morris.





David passed into eternity on October 12, 2010 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 79 years.





He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bartell of Cyrus; four children: Vicky (Donavan) Peters of Pennock, Roxanne (Al) Christopherson of Mesa, AZ, Roland (Kim) Bartell of Cold Spring and Jon Bartell of Wrightstown, WI; eight grandchildren: Alan Peters, Lynn (Katie) Peters, Shanan (Dennis) Anderson, Ben (Sheena) Christopherson, Megan Christopherson, Jesse Bartell, Whitney Bartell and Carter Bartell; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Beverly (Mack) Carlson of Raymond and Ruth (Glenn) Boyer of International Falls; and three brothers: Lavern (Cheryl) Bartell of Penrose, CO, Virgil (Suzie) Bartell of Rosemount and Roy (Deb) Bartell of Lakeville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Seth Bartell.







Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
