David Haynes

David Allen Haynes, son of Sally Schmidt Ahrendt, was born April 10, 1954 in Deadwood, South Dakota . He was baptized on May 9, 1954 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lead, South Dakota . David began his schooling in Rapid City . South Dakota and later moved to Chokio with his mom, where he continued his education at Chokio/Alberta, graduating in 1972. David met the love of his life, Bonnie Strand on January 2, 1971. David worked at Fingerhut in Morris for the summer after graduating and then enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 6, 1972. He completed basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas . Following basic, he spent six months in Thailand during the Viet Nam War. On December 2, 1973, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Strand at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church by Reverend Clayton Engan. During his 22 years in the service, David was stationed at Nellis AFB in Nevada , Keesler AFB in Mississippi , Cannon AFB in New Mexico , Mt Home AFB in Idaho , Upper Heyford AB in England and Incirlik AFB in Turkey . While David was serving in the military, he attended night school at the University of Maryland Troy State , where he received his Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Business Management. David received an honorable discharge in September, 1994. David and Bonnie retired to Donnelly , MN , where he worked at Mohr Plumbing and Heating, Superior Industries, SCMC and the Donnelly Coop in the Propane Department, where he was working at the present time.





When he wasn’t working, he always had some project he was working on. The latest endeavor being, building his own home. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.





Dave lost his ten month battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis , MN , having lived to reach the age of 55 years.





He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Haynes of Donnelly; two daughters: Mindy (Jake) Eystad of Donnelly and Christy (Brent) Pollard of Donnelly; five grandchildren: Aryn, Lee and Garrett Eystad and Destiny and Lydia Pollard all of Donnelly; his mother: Sally Ahrendt of Chokio; one brother: Michael Haynes of Morris and one sister: Laurie Ahrendt Post of Clearwater. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Claude and Rubye Schmidt and Clarabelle Haynes.





Pallbearers for the service are: Conrad Jackson, Burdell Strand, Jake Eysted, Brent Pollard, Michael Haynes and Brad Schmiesing. Honorary pallbearers are David’s grandchildren: Aryn Parker Eystad, Lee Eystad, Garrett Eystad, Destiny Pollard and Lydia Pollard. Peggy Wilke will be serving as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
