David John Jellum, son of Fredrick and Hilma (Dahlseng) Jellum, was born October 3, 1944 at Starbuck, Minnesota. David grew up in the Starbuck area, where he was baptized and confirmed at Indherred Lutheran Church by Pastor Forde. He began his education in a country school north of Starbuck, later attending the Starbuck Public School and eventually graduating from the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris. He then received some additional education at the St. Paul Technical Institute, after which, he began working construction in the Twin Cities from 1963 to 1965.

On October 9, 1965, David was united in marriage to Darlene Wooley by Reverend William Klein in Frederika, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Forest Lake, MN. David also began working for Donaldson Manufacturing in St. Paul in 1965, where he remained until 1973. At that time, David & Darlene moved to Starbuck and began running their dairy and grain farm, the same farm that David's parents and grandparents had previously operated. They continued to farm until David's retirement in 2012. They have continued to live on the home farm since that time.

Over the years, David was an active member of Indherred Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He had also served on the Pope County Soil & Water District Board; he served as a volunteer for the "Let's Go Fishing" program in Pope County and was active with UFFDA in Glenwood. Some of his other interests included woodworking, supporting conservation, enjoying nature, working at Indherred Lutheran Church, hunting, fishing, camping and pretty much anything that allowed him to spend time with his beloved family. David will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

David died on Friday, March 1, 2013, surrounded by family at his home near Starbuck, MN, having lived to reach the age of 68 years.
