David Wendt

David Wendt, son of Elmer and Florence Wendt, was born on January 9, 1943 in Springfield, Minnesota. He attended Lamberton Public School until November 1956, when the family moved to Morris, where he finished his education. David farmed with his father.




David enlisted in the Army National Guard of Minnesota in November 1964 for six years and was honorably discharged in November 1970. His military training was conducted at Camp Ripley, Minnesota as well as Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Carson, Colorado. David served in Company A, 4 th Battalion, 3 rd Regiment of the Army National Guard.




David suffered a severe brain trauma caused by being hit in the head by a soccer ball at a Sunday school picnic in 1971. This was a defining event in his life as it made David vulnerable ever since to neurological seizures and strokes. His last stroke was in October 1993. David has been a resident of the Villa Nursing Home, now called West Wind Village, since December 1993.




David died on February 9 th , 2009 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 66 years.




David is survived by his mother: Florence Wendt of Morris; sister: Joyce Wendt of Morris; brother: Roger Wendt of Morris; one nephew: Ron and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Wendt, in December 1985.




Pallbearers for the service are: Richard Lubenow, Richard Friesen, Jim Velde, Dennis Feuchtenberger and Arnold Vold. Carol Albert will serve as pianist for the service with ___ serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
