Doris Driggins

Funeral services for Doris Driggins of Morris, MN will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN. Reverend John R. Smith will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Cyrus South Cemetery, rural Cyrus.

Doris Lucille Tollefson, daughter of Carl and Bertha (Kittleson) Tollefson, was born November 15, 1923 in Cyrus, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from Cyrus High School. On July 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Virgil Driggins at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. Over the years, they lived in various communities, eventually settling in Cyrus. Virgil died on January 13, 1992. Doris continued to live in Cyrus until 2005, when she moved to Morris. She entered the West Wind Village in 2008, where she continued to live until the time of her death.

Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN, where she was active in the WELCA, Do Days and the Church Bazaar. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and loved visiting with people on the phone. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Doris died on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at West Wind Village in Morris. She lived to reach the age of 88 years.

She is survived by six children: Virgil (Lorna) Driggins of Cyrus, LaVerne Fjerstad of Grove City, Carl (LaDonna) Driggins of Lakefield, Duane Driggins of Jordan, Dan (Dawn) Driggins of Lindstrom and Dawn Driggins of Morris; 15 granchildren: Melissa (Brent) Akerson, Skip (Susie) Fjerstad, Tim Fjerstad, OhMee (Ryan) Kruse, Gina Fjerstad, Michael Fjerstad, Randy Fjerstad, Carl Jr. (Allison) Driggins, Amanda (Chris) Hock, Stacey (Shane) Roberts, Pam Driggins, Angie Driggins, Jessica (Rick) Larsen, Missy (Jason) Halls, Katrina (Chris) Rossman; 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister: Lucille Tollefson and four brothers: Wilbur, Bruce, Harold and George Tollefson.

Pallbearers for the service are Doris's grandchildren. Diane Hanse will serve as organist for the service with Sheryle Dahl serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
