Dorothy Lindor

March 12, 1925 — August 26, 2007

Dorothy Joan Lindor, daughter of Neil and Nellie (Olson) Hopkins was born on March 12, 1925 at home in Westport Township, Pope County, Minnesota. She was baptized on October 4, 1929 at Villard Methodist Church. She grew up in Villard and graduated High School in 1943. Dorothy then attended Teachers Normal Training at Glenwood. She taught in rural Pope County Schools: Westport, Sedan, Farwell, and Cyrus. Dorothy was united in marriage on August 28, 1948 to Kenneth Lindor at the Villard Methodist Church. The couple made their home on the Lindor family farm. This union was blessed with five children: Dennis, Larry, Jill, Kay and Jody. Dorothy took a break from teaching to raise her family. After the kids were grown she returned to school to continue her education at the University of Minnesota - Morris branch. She then taught in the Cyrus School System. Dorothy also was a census taker. Dorothy moved to the West Wind Village in Morris in August of 1997.



Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a Sunday School Teacher and active in the PTA. She was a past member of the Villard Methodist Church, First Lutheran Church in Kensington and Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. Dorothy had many interests. At the top of the list were family and friends. Other interests included reading, sewing, walking, flowers and gardening, bird watching, dancing, going to ball games, watching the Twins and other TV programs such as Andy Griffith and Carol Burnett and listening to old time music.

Dorothy died on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the West Wind Village in Morris having lived to reach the age of 82 years.



She is survived by her husband: Kenneth of Cyrus; sons: Dennis (Dawn Bjorge) Lindor of Morris, Larry (Heidi) Lindor of rural Cyrus; daughters: Jill (Steve) Van Kempen of Morris, Kay (Mark) Blauert, Montevideo, Jody (Brent) Reimnitz of Woodbury; brothers: Bruce Hopkins of 29 Palms, CA; Charles Hopkins of Mission, TX sisters: Mary Selnes of Stillwater, June Frederick of Villard, Margaret Hopkins of Marysville, WA, Patricia Veum-Smith of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren; Heidi Jo (Neil) Suess, James and Katelyn Van Kempen, Nicole, Hilary and Andrew Lindor, Emily and Haylee Blauert, Monica and Nathan Reimnitz; brother-in-laws: Don Lindor, Bill Hatcher, Tom Smith, Dennis Kringen, Les Lindor and Russell Amundson; sisters-in-law: Marge Hopkins, Jana Hopkins, Loraine Lindor, Darlene Kringen and Lois Bailey and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is also survived by her life long friend Pearl Johnson and her special friend Sheryle Dahl. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; grandson: Jacob Stephen Van Kempen; sister: Jean Hatcher; brother: Jack Hopkins; sisters-in-law: Ione Amundson, Gina Lindor, Ardus Hopkins and Betty Hopkins; brothers-in-law: George Selnes, Floyd Frederick, Tom Bailey and Richard Zavadil.



Pallbearers for the service are: Dennis Lindor, Larry Lindor, Steve Van Kempen, Mark Blauert, Brent Reimnitz and Charles Hopkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dorothy's grandchildren and the staff of West Wind Village, which the family would like too thank for their loving care and dedicated service. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist and Mark Blauert and Sheryle Dahl will be soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home of Morris is in charge of arrangements.
