The couple was married on June 18, 1928. To this union two sons were born. Following their marriage, the couple farmed for a short while near Litchfield, MN, before buying a farm in Kimball. In 1951, they moved to Morgan, MN for one year. In 1952, they bought a farm near Morris, where they continued to live until Lawrence died in 1980. Dorothy has continued to live in Morris since that time.
