Edmond Brown

September 2, 1913 — April 25, 2006

Eddie passed away April 25, 2006 at Grace Home in Graceville, MN. He was 92 years old.



John Edmond Brown was born September 2, 1913 to Richard and Margaret (Barry) Brown. Eddie was very proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed sharing memories of growing up on his parent's farm southeast of Chokio. His special interest was that of working with horses.



At the age of 13, Eddie had mail-ordered a guitar and his brother Harvey a violin. Shortly after receiving the instruments, they decided to switch with each other and became self-taught. In their early years, they both enjoyed playing for area barn dances and gatherings. In his later years, Eddie enjoyed playing his violin for residents of nursing homes and for special events.



He was united in marriage to Grace Williamson in Hibbing, Minnesota. The couple farmed south of Chokio until retirement at which time they moved into Chokio. Upon retirement from farming, both Eddie and Grace enjoyed working part-time for Virgil and Mickey Maus. Eddie continued working part-time until the age of 80.



He is survived by his sons: Fran Brown of Burnsville and Jim and Kathy Brown of Kandiyohi; six grandchildren: Megan Brown, Michael Brown, Zachary (Chris) Eliason, Jennifer Brown and Letina Brown; four great-grandchildren: Anna Brown, Jenai Brown, Haley Brown and Oden Eliason; two sisters: Jean Riley of Minneapolis and Eileen Anderson of Circle Pines; step-children: Gerda Wade, Elwood and Carol Wade, Norman and Laura Wade, Sharon and Sid Hanson and stepdaughter-in-law: Gerda Wade; He was preceded in death by his wife Grace; his parents; brothers: Leland Brown, Bert Brown and Harvey Brown and step-son: Lavern Wade.



Serving as casketbearers for the service are: Ervy Nelson, John Busch, Roy Johnson, Harold Zimmerman, Larry Hartman and Ordell Ritter. Honorary casketbearers are: Lloyd Hagen, Sig Hagen, Fred Sperr, Clarence Grossman, Don Quackenbush, Robert Wade, Roger DeCamp and Virgil Maus. Amy Blackwelder will serve as organist for the service with Tom Horning providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home of Morris is handling the arrangements.
