Edward Mickelson

January 12, 1935 — January 17, 2010

Edward Kenneth “Pickles” Mickelson Jr., son of Edward Sr. and Olive ( Anderson ) Mickelson, was born January 12, 1935 in Morris , Minnesota . He was baptized on January 21, 1935 by Reverend Quammen. Ed’s family lived in Cyrus until he was ten years old, when they moved to Fairbault , Minnesota , where he was confirmed on May 21, 1950 at Ephphatha Lutheran Church . Ed later graduated from the Fairbault School for the Blind. Following his graduation, he returned to Cyrus and began working for Cliff Olson, building silos. He later went to work for Thompson Insulation, where he worked until he retired in the mid 1980’s. Ed has continued to live in the Cyrus area until the time of his death.





Ed was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus. He enjoyed fishing, raising livestock, taking care of his animals and driving his John Deere tractor. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.





Ed died on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck , MN , having lived to reach the age of 75 years.





He is survived by two nephews: Bill Mickelson of Cyrus and Joel Mickelson of Cyrus; three nieces: Darlene Aaberg of Starbuck, Susan (Don) Schmidt of Fargo, ND and Ruth (Ken) Schiefelbein of Starbuck; sister-in-law: Nora Mickelson of Cyrus and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Ernie and one sister: Sylvia.





Serving as pallbearers are: Norman Nissen, LeRoy Mickelson, Clarence Hansen, Erland Mickelson, Andy Aaberg and Danny Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are: Lyle Anderson, Howard Anderson and David Ronnie. Nola Smith will serve as organist for the service with Sheryle Dahl serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
