Elaine Vincent

August 22, 1924 — February 7, 2010

Elaine Mildred Sandness, daughter of Carl and Emily (Schei) Sandness, was born August 22, 1924 in Sioux Falls , South Dakota , where she grew up and began her schooling. She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls . Following her schooling, she worked in a dental office and during WWII, Elaine worked in an airplane plant in Washington State . On October 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to Curtis Vincent in Sioux Falls , SD by Reverend Harvey R. Gregerson. Following their marriage, the couple lived on Marine Corps Bases in North and South Carolina , where they also began raising their six children. They later moved back to Sioux Falls , where Elaine worked and ran Main Avenue Flea Market for the next 16 years. Following her retirement, Elaine moved to Minnesota , where she lived until the time of her death.





Elaine was a member of Sons of Norway. Elaine’s passion was fishing and looking for that one of a kind object and rummage sales and auctions. While she was in high school, she played the trumpet and trombone and loved to sing and yodel. She was an entertainer and had a smile for everyone. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.





Elaine died on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at West Wind Village in Morris , Minnesota , having lived to reach the age of 85 years.





She is survived by six children: Linda (Gene) Carver of Hancock, Kristi Juergens of Alexandria , Mark (Margie) Vincent of Gilbert, AZ, Paul (Laurie) Vincent of Sioux Falls, SD, Laurie Odegard of Alexandria and Amy Vincent of Alexandria ; 23 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Ivar Sandness; one sister: Clara Garness and Curtis Vincent





Honorary pallbearers are Elaine’s children: Linda Carver, Kristi Juergens, Mark Vincent, Paul Vincent, Laurie Odegard and Amy Vincent.
