Eli Wente

September 11, 1915 — December 11, 2005

Eli Marvin Wente, son of Henry and Martha (Erdman) Wente, was born September 11, 1915 at home in Fairfield Township, Holloway, Minnesota. He grew up in Fairfield Township, where he attended grade school and helped his dad work around the farm. In April 1941, he was united in marriage to Alma Reu. The couple farmed in Fairfield Township, and also milked cows and raised a few chickens and pigs. Eli was quite the handy man, and with the help of his dad and neighbors, he built his own house, barn and chicken coop. Eli did a lot of his own mechanic work as well. He retired from farming at the age of 65, but he continued to help his son Tom farm until he was 80 years old.

Eli was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield Township. He was also an assessor for a few years in Fairfield Township. He enjoyed some hunting, spear fishing, dancing, playing cards and drinking coffee. Most of all, Eli enjoyed raising his four sons and spending time with his grandchildren.

Eli died on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 90 years.
