Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty" Pollard of Cyrus, formerly of Morris, will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, with Father Todd Schneider officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.

Elizabeth "Betty" Marie Pollard was born to William and Josephine Kill on March 1, 1923 at Morris, Minnesota. She graduated as valedictorian from Saint Mary's High School in 1941.

Betty was united in marriage to Lester Pollard on March 16, 1943 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. They lived on a farm near Chokio until they purchased their farm near Cyrus in the spring of 1955.

Betty was a member of Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church in Kensington. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary for 29 years and lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Morris.

Betty was an extremely detailed bookkeeper for their farm consisting of livestock and grain. She had a passion for gardening, canning, baking, making homemade soap, and processing all parts of the pig but the squeal. Every Christmas Eve, Betty opened her home with ham, baked beans, and goodies. Les and Betty were renowned for their fine homemade wine, which they took great satisfaction in sharing with others.

Betty was known for a sound mind, sharp memory, and strong spirit. Betty was a very hardworking and devoted farm wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves a legacy of hard work and devotion that will affect generations to come.

Betty passed away peacefully at Ecumen Bethany Home in Alexandria on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the age of 92. Under the care of her daughter Chleo, she lived on the family farm until the last two weeks of her life. Betty was alert and comfortable until the Lord called her home.

Betty was survived by five children: Connie (Spencer) Howey of Chokio, Bruce Pollard (friend: Linda K.K.) of Cyrus, Chleo Anderson of Alexandria, Kevin (Linda) Pollard of Kensington and RaeJean (Ted) Marsh of Roberts, WI; sisters-in-law: Kathryn Claussen and Geesien Kill, 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Lester Pollard; parents: William and Josephine Kill; a grandson: Corey Swanson, six infant grandchildren, four brothers: Leonard, Herbert, George, and William, Jr. Kill and three sisters: Kathryn Cook, Irene Jost, and Eileen Kill.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
