Emil Greiner

April 4, 1915 — July 24, 2005

Emil Greiner, son of August and Caroline (Reber) Greiner, was born April 4, 1915 in Hancock, Minnesota, where he grew up and received his schooling. At a young age he started working on the family farm. Later, Emil continued farming in the Hancock area with his brother, Otto. On October 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to Arlene Lackie in Morris. The couple made their home in Moore Township, where Emil served on the Township Board for several years. Emil and Otto continued farming together until 1974. Emil then farmed with his sons, until retiring in 2002. Emil and Arlene moved into Hancock in 1994, where they have continued to live since that time. Farming was always central to Emil?s life, and even after his retirement, he continued to be involved at the farm on a daily basis.

Emil died on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, ND, having lived to reach the age of 90 years.

He is survived by his wife: Arlene Greiner of Hancock; two sons: Allan (Kathy) Greiner of Hancock and Gaylan (Mary) Greiner of Hancock; son-in-law: Dan Eystad of Morris; one brother: Robert (Eileen) Greiner of Cissna Park, IL; one sister: Lydia Osmun of Elgin, IL; 5 grandchildren: Heidi Greiner, Hayley Eystad, Autumn Eystad, Rhianna Eystad and Trevor Eystad; 1 great-grandson: Zachary Taylor Greiner; 5 step-grandchildren: Jennifer Walters, Tyson (Carey) Giese, Casey Davidson, Lucas Giese and Joshua (Erin) Giese and 3 step-greatgrandchildren: Amber, Taylor and Jacey Giese. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Lynette Eystad; his parents; brothers and sisters: Mary Moser, Freida Eisenmann, John Greiner, Rose Eurich, Ben Greiner, Tillie Rudin, Anna Mae Joos, Otto Greiner, Elsie Greiner, Esther Batt, Helen Joos and Howard Greiner.

Pallbearers for the service are: Doug Greiner, Ken Koehl, Dennis Bye, Jay Pieske, Darrel Pieske and Ken Nohl. Honorary pallbearers are: Randy Pieske, Arlan Pieske, Robert Haas, Gordon Greiner, Mick Asmus, Don Boon, Jim Rager and Bob Rager. The Apostolic Christian Church Choir will provide special music for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
