Ervin Vollmers

Ervin Robert Vollmers was born on December 6, 1922 in Dollymont Township in Traverse County, Minnesota a son of Claus and Sophie (Deede) Vollmers. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Ervin was united in marriage on September 5, 1943 in Rosholt, SD to Bethel Schumacher. The couple first made their home in Traverse County and then moved to Everglade Township in Stevens County, where they farmed and raised their family. In the early 1990’s they retired from farming and moved into Morris.




Ervin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morris and did a lot of volunteer work through the church. He enjoyed working with and riding horses. Ervin was well known for his woodworking skills and shared them with everyone, but above all he was devoted to his family.




Ervin died on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris having lived to reach the age of 85 years.




Survivors include his wife: Bethel of Morris; daughters: DiAnn (Ron) Jacobson of Crosby, ND, Ruth (David C.) Anderson of Chokio; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren: Aaron (Shelbey) Jacobson and their children; Chase, Rider, Race and Windy; Sarah (Tim) Ciavarri and their daughter Chiara; April (Brent) Bauman and their children, Andrew, Matthew, Annika and Owen; Jennifer (James) Ahrndt and their children Hali and Eli; David (Kim) Jacobson; Nathan Anderson and Stephen Jacobson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers: George, Alvin, Clarence, Leonard, Wally and Elmer; and a sister: Darleen




Pallbearers for the service will be Ervin’s grandchildren: Aaron Jacobson, Sarah Ciavarri, April Bauman, Jennifer Ahrndt, David Jacobson, Nathan Anderson and Stephen Jacobson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ervin’s great-grandchildren: Chase, Rider, Race and Windy Jacobson; Chiara Ciavarri; Andrew, Matthew, Annika and Owen Bauman; Hali and Eli Ahrndt. Organist will be Dorthy Maus and Sarah Ciavarri and James Arndt will serve as soloists. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of arrangements.
