Evelyn Overstad

July 7, 1907 — June 20, 2005

Evelyn Rosabelle Berg, daughter of Eddie and Theresa (Erickson) Berg, was born on July 7, 1907 in Blue Mound Township south of Starbuck. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Starbuck. She began her education at the country school near her home and finished school at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris. On April 14, 1926, she was united in marriage to Edwin Hendrickson in Benson, MN. The couple made their home on a farm south of Starbuck near Lake Emily until 1940, when they purchased a farm west of Glenwood. They sold the farm and retired in 1973, moving into a home that was close to their son Lyn and his family. Edwin died in 1983, and in 1985, Evelyn moved into Starbuck. In 1988 she married Herman Overstad, and the couple lived in Glenwood until Herman passed away in 1995. Evelyn moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in 1997, where she lived until the time of her death.

Evelyn was a member of Fron Lutheran Church, where she was involved in the women?s organizations. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and family, gardening and baking. Doughnuts were one of her specialties.

Evelyn died on Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, having lived to reach the age of 97 years.

She is survived by her son: Lyn Hendrickson of Glenwood; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two sisters: Edna Moore of Glenwood and Esther Olson of Bellingham, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents: Eddie and Theresa; her first husband: Edwin; her second husband: Herman; daughter-in-law: Lucille; three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers for the service are: Gregg Hendrickson, Jon Hendrickson, Larry Berg, Jerry Halvorson, Ralph Hendrickson and Alan Hendrickson. Monica Gosseling will serve as organist for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
