Gertrude Wadekamper

April 16, 1911 — March 21, 2010

Gertrude Reek, daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Ott) Reek, was born April 16, 1911 in Afton , Minnesota . She grew up and attended school in Erskine , Minnesota . Gertrude was united in marriage to Leonard Wadekamper in Erskine. The couple moved to Clearbrook , Minnesota , where they raised their family. Leonard died in January, 1975 and Gertrude then moved to Park Rapids, where she lived until 2006, when she moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck , Minnesota . Gertrude loved to travel and enjoyed taking many trips to Montana . She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.





Gertrude died on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck , MN , having lived to reach the age of 98 years.





She is survived by one son: Leo (Mary) Wadekamper of Helena, MT; three daughters: Connie Backlund of Duluth , Janice Granley of Coon Rapids and Diane (Steve) Roberts of Stacy; five grandchildren: Wade, Cole, Kathy, Kae and Jeffery; two great-grandchildren: Lerin and Christopher and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers: John and Cornelius Reek and one sister: Lillian Reek Peterson.





Honorary pallbearers are: Glenn Peterson, Gene Peterson, Kenneth Peterson, Steve Claussen, Steve Roberts, Cole MulvahillJeffrey Wadekamper, Christopher Claussen and Wade Backlund. Amy VanZee will serve as pianist for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
