Hazel Fynboh

February 1, 1922 — October 29, 2006

Hazel Irene Cook, daughter of Paul and Lillian (Isherwood) Cook, was born February 1, 1922 in Synnes Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. She grew up in rural Alberta and attended and graduated from Alberta High School in 1939. Following her schooling, Hazel helped on the family farm until she was married. On April 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Fynboh on the home farm in Scott Township. The couple lived in rural Herman for a few months then moved to Scott Township in rural Alberta. In 1960 and 1997, Hazel moved but never lived more then a mile from where she grew up, until six weeks ago, when she entered the Courage Cottage in Morris. Over the years she kept busy as a housewife and homemaker along with enjoying her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a very talented poet, writing poems for all the special people in her life. She wrote poems for any occasion, including her daughters and granddaughters weddings. She was an artist that enjoyed making drawings of Angels and animals.

Hazel enjoyed her collections of birds and owls. Love for animals especially her cats were part of her life. You knew that when you went to see Hazel, the coffee pot and cookies were always on and ready for visitors. Hazel liked anything that was the color purple and she loved to play the piano. She will be missed by many as she always had that special way to put a smile on your face, whether she knew you for years or if she just met you.

Hazel died on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.

She is survived by one daughter: Pat (Steve) Storck of Morris; one son: Larry Fynboh of Alberta; two grandchildren: Kristin (Eric) Lindstrom of Sugar Land, TX and Kevin Storck of Donnelly; three sisters: Eva Jones of Morris, Lucille Cin of Alberta and Dorothy (Carroll) Amundson of Prior Lake; one sister-in-law: Laurine Cook of Morris and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters: Ruth Cook and Helen Cook and three brothers: Paul Cook, Robert Cook and Ray Cook.
