Helen Hennen

November 1, 1908 — December 17, 2008

Helen Irene Beimel, daughter of John and Pauline (Ghelhar) Beimel, was born November 1, 1908 in Morris, Minnesota, where she grew up and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She attended and graduated Valedictorian from Morris High School in 1926. On June 24, 1926, she was united in marriage to John J. Hennen at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. The couple farmed in Synnes Township until 1938, when they moved to Darnen Township. They continued farming there until 1972, when they moved to Morris. John died on December 4, 1990. Helen moved to West Wind Village in 1999, where she continued to live until the time of her death.




Helen was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, the St. Patricks Mission Circle and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a devoted homemaker and mother and family was always first and foremost.




Helen died on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 100 years.




She is survived by seven children: John (Joan) Hennen of Ottumwa, IA, Marilyn Mahoney of Morris, Lois (Ken) Johnson of Donnelly, Lynette (Keith) Cox of Connersville, IN, Edward (Nancy) Hennen of Minneapolis, Deacon Stanley (Diane) Hennen of Morris, Peg (Mike) Schwendeman of Hampton; daughter-in-law: Shirley Hennen of Metairie, LA; 34 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Ella Coleman of Minneapolis; brother-in-law: Leo (Evelyn) Hennen of Morris and sister-in-law: Rose Hennen. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons: Richard and Roger Hennen; son-in-law: Don Mahoney; one brother: Ludwig Beimel and four sisters: Edna Varnum, Meta Larson, Frances Coleman and Lougine Beimel.




Pallbearers for the service are Helen’s grandchildren. Darlene Hennen will serve as pianist for the service with Holly Hennen providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
