Irene Erlandson

January 13, 1938 — June 19, 2010

Irene Ann (Faats) Erlandson, daughter of Richard and Anna (Muller) Faats, was born January 13, 1938 in Butte , Nebraska , where she grew up and began her schooling. In 1951 her family moved to Chokio , Minnesota , where Irene continued her schooling. Following her schooling, Irene moved to Minneapolis , where she was married and had three children, before moving back to Morris. In 1962, she was united in marriage to Arthur Erlandson and to this union four children were born. Irene was a homemaker and cook as well as working as a home health aide. During her time in Minneapolis , she served on the Minneapolis Police Reserve. In 1979, Irene and Arthur moved to Cyrus. Arthur died in 1996 and Irene continued to live in Cyrus until the time of her death.





Irene died on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris , MN , having lived to reach the age of 72.





Irene is survived by two sons: Steve Doll of Oregon and Randy Erlandson of Cyrus; four daughters: Janice Doll of Washington, Cheryl Beebe of Donnelly, Susan Erlandson of Minneapolis and Lisa Malkavage of Cyrus; four sisters: Marie Hanson of California, Vera (Bud) Johnson of Lincoln, NE, Alice Smalley of Nebraska; and Darlene (Bill) Maloney of Morris; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.





She was preceded in death by her husband: Arthur; son: Lonnie; two grandsons: Gary Doll and Lawrence Higgins; son-in-law: Michael Malkavage; her parents; three brothers: Edwin, Leo and Dean and one infant sister: Marilyn Joyce.





Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Randy Higgins, Evan Solvie, Carter Mithun, Michael Higgins, Wayne Higgins and Roger Johnson. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are: Sydney Mithun, and All of Irene’s Grandchildren. Diane Hanse will serve as organist for the service with Jere Solvie serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
