Jeanette Dolven

Delia Jeanette Olson, daughter of Otto and Delia (Lee) Olson, was born February 18, 1913 in Framnas Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Lutheran Church in Cyrus, Minnesota. Jeanette began her schooling in Cyrus, graduating in 1932 from Cyrus High School. She went on to attend two years of college at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris. Following her schooling, Jeanette worked at Groths Department Store, where she met her future husband Donald Dolven. Jeanette also did housework for M. B. Lords. On July 3, 1939, she was united in marriage to Donald Dolven. To this union three children were born. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in Framnas Township until 1974, when they moved to Morris. Don died on March 19, 1992. Jeanette lived in Morris until 2002, when she moved to West Wind Village, where she continued to live until the time of her death.




Jeanette was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris, where she served on various groups and committees. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.




Jeanette died on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at West Wind Village in Morris, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 96 years.




She is survived by one son: Terry (Arlyce) Dolven of Montevideo; two daughters: Diane (Ed) Gades of Rycroft, Alberta Canada and Ruth Dolven (Gary Kolle) of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother: Howard W. Olson of Cyrus and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers and two sisters.




Deb Mahoney will serve as pianist for the service with Jere Solvie serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army, Courage Cottage or First Lutheran Church in Morris.
