Jerome Petsche

Jerome Harold Petsche, son of Lawrence and Leola (Theisen) Petsche, was born December 3, 1948 in Guttenburg, Iowa. He grew up and received his schooling in Osterdock, Iowa. Following his schooling, he drove semi truck before moving to Monticello, Minnesota to help build the NSP Power Plant. Jerry became a certified welder and worked around the country at several various jobs such as, oil refineries, ship building, garbage burners and power plants. For 30 years Jerry worked as a boilermaker and was nicknamed Out-O-Round. He owned his own scrap metal recycling business and did welding work for several people in the community. If Jerry did a job for someone, you knew it was done right the first time. On August 19, 2000, he was united in marriage to Nola Haugen at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Hancock by Reverend Julius Miller. The couple has made their home in Hancock since that time.

Jerry was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock and Boilermakers Local Fraternal Order of #647 Union. He enjoyed going to auctions, making strawberry, rhubarb and grape wine, telling stories, fishing, traveling by truck and coin collecting, making sure that each grandchild received a set of the new quarters. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jerry died on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 60 years.

He is survived by his wife: Nola Petsche of Hancock; four children: Janet (Bob) Scott of Aberdeen, WA, Jason (Alicia) Davidson of Glenwood, Jerome (Amanda) Petsche of Chokio and Laura Davidson of Hancock; four grandchildren: Shylin Eichele, Darrin Eichele, Cayden Davidson and Joyanna Petsche; five brothers and sisters: Don Petsche of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sheila (Steve) Nemmers of Lakewood, CO, Bob (Betty) Petsche of Osterdock, IA, Lisa (Ted) Johnson of Colesberg, IA and Daryl (Cindy) Petsche of Manona, IA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister: Diane.

Pallbearers for the service are: Jim Rooney, Dave Shoneberg, Phil Reed, Daryl Dosdall, Darrell Malland and Richard Hardy. Honorary pallbearers are: Dennis Bergquist, John Kvale, Brad Oksendahl, Gary Greiner, Arlen Stensby and Karl Edmunds. Deb Newhouse will serve as organist for the service with John Kvale playing a trumpet solo. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
