Joyce Taffe

January 26, 1930 — July 18, 2008

Joyce Ann Eisenmenger, daughter of Leo and Alvena (Skoog) Eisenmenger, was born January 26, 1930 in Graceville, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. Joyce attended school in Graceville and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy. Following graduation, Joyce attended nursing school in Minneapolis. On October 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Taffe at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. The couple farmed near Barry, Minnesota for a few years before moving to Morris, Minnesota in 1956.




Joyce was a long time member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. She worked at Glenwood Hills Hospital in Minneapolis, Graceville Hospital in Graceville, Montgomery Ward and J. C. Penneys. She most recently worked at Thrifty White Drug in Morris. She enjoyed cooking and baking, reading and spending time with her family. Joyce was an avid sports fan and she especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in their many activities.




Joyce was called from this life on July 18, 2008 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 78 years.




She is survived by her husband: Charles Taffe of Morris; four sons: Chuck (Barb) Taffe of Hastings, Dave (Brenda) Taffe of Aberdeen, SD, Jerry (Jane) Taffe of Maple Grove and Dennis (Nancy) Taffe of Morris; three daughters: Marilyn (Tim) Beyer of Holloway, Gail (Bruce) Hill of Egg Harbor, WI and Sandy (Ron) Kopel of Glenwood; 13 grandchildren: Jeff (Jenni) Taffe of Phoenix, AZ, Jamie Taffe of Hastings, Ross Kopel of Glenwood, Kirk Kopel of Alexandria, Adam Waage of Aberdeen, SD, Trent Waage of Aberdeen, SD, Abby Taffe of Aberdeen, SD, Matt Taffe of Maple Grove, Michael Taffe of Maple Grove, Sara Taffe of Maple Grove,  Tera (Nate) Kleespie of Morris, Molly Taffe of Morris and Kaley Taffe of Morris; one great-grandchild: McKenna Kopel; two sisters: Lois (John) Williams of Salmon, ID and Connie Stotesbery of Wheaton; two brothers: Richard (Florence) Eisenmenger of Tehachapi, CA and Bruce (Kim) Eisenmenger of Arden Hills and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Phyllis Gacke.




Pallbearers for the service are Joyce’s grandsons: Jeff Taffe, Ross Kopel, Kirk Kopel, Adam Waage, Trent Waage, Matt Taffe and Michael Taffe. Honorary pallbearers are Joyce’s granddaughters: Jamie Taffe, Abby Taffe, Sara Taffe, Tera Kleespie, Molly Taffe and Kaley Taffe. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
