Julian Stadsvold

January 30, 1923 — February 24, 2010

Julian Norris Stadsvold, son of Judin and Theodora (Benjaminson) Stadsvold, was born January 30, 1923 in Rolling Forks Township in Pope County , Minnesota . He was baptized on April 1, 1923 and confirmed October 10, 1937 at East Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend K.R. Palmer. Julian grew up south of Starbuck and attended country school. On July 2, 1944, he was united in marriage to Verna Esplien at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage by Reverend K. R. Palmer. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Starbuck and Julian worked at the Starbuck Creamery. In 1944, Julian enlisted in the United States Army, serving in WWII. He received an honorable discharge in 1946 and returned to Starbuck. Julian and Verna lived south of Starbuck, before moving North of Starbuck, where they lived until 1983, when they moved into Starbuck. Julian and Verna moved into the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in 2007. Verna died on May 20, 2007 and Julian continued to live there until the time of death.





Julian enjoyed farming, fishing, dancing and listening to old time music. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.





Julian died on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck , MN , having lived to reach the age of 87 years.





He is survived by five children: Judy (Mike) Johnson of Starbuck, Dennis (George) Stadsvold of Lowry, Jim Stadsvold of St. Paul, Charles (Deb) Stadsvold of Starbuck and Mary (Mike) Erickson of Starbuck; eight grandchildren: Chad Stadsvold, Chris (Stacey) Stadsvold, Ryan (Meghan) Stadsvold, Matt Stadsvold, Cory (Jannae) Stadsvold, Bobbi Jo Stadsvold, Mitch (Tina) Erickson and Michelle (Adam) Shea; ten great-grandchildren: Abbey Stadsvold, Jackson and Hunter Stadsvold, Neal & Nadia Stadsvold, Triston Korkowski, Benton and Kelsey Stadsvold, Sawyer Erickson and Haley Shea and one sister: Alva (Walter) Engebretson of Starbuck. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one sister: Rosella Jergenson and one brother: Earl Stadsvold.





Pallbearers for the service are Julian’s grandchildren: Chad Stadsvold, Chris Stadsvold, Ryan Stadsvold, Matt Stadsvold, Cory Stadsvold, Bobbi Jo Stadsvold, Mitch Erickson and Michelle Shea. Honorary pallbearers are Julian’s great-grandchildren. Shari Opdahl will serve as organist for the service with Joy DuBois serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
