June Anderson

June 18, 1912 — October 29, 2006

June Marian Mickelson, daughter of Henry and Valborg Amelia (Ettesvold) Mickelson, was born June 18, 1912 in Framnas Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in the Scandia area, where she was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Church. She attended and graduated from the Cyrus High School in 1930. Following her graduation, she was employed at a nursing home in Willmar for 1A½ years. On June 12, 1932, she was united in marriage to Elmer G. Anderson at St. Petri Church in Cyrus. The couple resided in Morris all of their married life. June and Elmer loved to travel. They enjoyed many trips to the West Coast, Alaska, New York, Mexico and Greece. For many years they spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona.



June was always active in Bethany Lutheran Church, serving in several positions over the years. She was church organist for over 30 years until the church closed. She then became involved at First Lutheran Church in Morris, where she also served as an organist. June enjoyed being a member of the birthday club and a sewing club for many years. Her love was entertaining family and friends, both at home and at the cottage. June was known as "Gummie" to her grandchildren.



June died on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 94 years.



She is survived by two daughters: Dorothy Thompson of Branson, MO and Joan Harren of Owatonna; daughter-in-law: Yvonne Anderson of Glenwood; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son: Ronald Anderson; one grandson: Mark Alan Harren; four brothers; one sister and two sons-in-law: Paul Harren and Dale Thompson.



Pallbearers for the service are June's grandsons: Jeff Anderson, Chuck Anderson, Todd Anderson, Reed Thompson, Darren Anderson and Brian Harren. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist for the service with Mary Huebner serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
