Marvin Siebrecht

Marvin Howard Siebrecht, son of John and Mathilida (Paulson) Siebrecht, was born May 19, 1914 in Synnes Township in Stevens County, Minnesota, where he grew up. He was baptized on June 21, 1914 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Synnes Township by Reverend Pasche and was confirmed on June 9, 1929 at Trinity Lutheran by Reverend P. A. Peterson. Marvin attended school in Alberta, graduating in 1932. He continued his education at Coynes Electric and Radio School in Chicago, where he graduated in 1937. Following his schooling, Marvin returned to Morris, where he was employed at the Gambles Store, where he did radio repair and later TV repair. On June 4, 1941, he was united in marriage to Margaret Mohr at Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township. To this union the couple was blessed with two sons: Richard and Phillip. Following their marriage the couple continued to live in Morris. On October 10, 1942, Marvin enlisted in the Army reserve, where he served in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. He returned to his family in Morris and was employed by several business places, such as, Varnums, Olson's Furniture, Red Owl and Morris Coop. Marvin retired in 1979 and he and Margaret have continued to live in Morris.



Marvin was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morris. He was also a member of the Morris American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and football. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends.



Marvin died on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 92 years.



He is survived by his wife: Margaret Siebrecht of Morris; one son: Richard Siebrecht of Anoka; three grandchildren: Tim, Jennifer and Steven and one sister: Myrtle Wellman of Chokio. He was preceded in death by one son: Phillip; daughter-in-law: Carol Andert Siebrecht; eight brothers: Harry, Elmer, John, Ervin, Art, Lloyd, Del, William and two sisters: Stella and Vera.



Honorary pallbearers for the service are: Dorothy Schneider, Karen Zimmerman, Joyce Gausman, Beverly Berg, Donna Eul and Deloris Daly. Phyllis Joos will serve as organist for the service with Sharon Martin serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
