Mary Evink

Mary Jo Schmidgall, daughter of Richard and Corrine (Moser) Schmidgall, was born July 8, 1960 in Morris, Minnesota. She grew up and was baptized at the Hancock Christian Reformed Church. Mary began her schooling at the Hancock Elementary and in 1978 graduated from Hancock High School. She continued her education at Alexandria Technical College in the Accounting Program. On August 11, 1979, she was united in marriage to Roger Evink at the Cougar Room in Morris by Dale Eisenmann. The couple made their home in Hancock, where they raised their four children. Mary was employed at Hancock Concrete and the Hancock Public Schools.

Mary was a member of the Hancock Christian Reformed Church in Hancock, where she was very active with various groups. She was also very active with her children's school activities. She enjoyed music, camping, snowmobiling, scrapbooking, playing cards and motorcycle riding. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.

Mary died on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 47 years.

She is survived by her husband: Roger Evink of Hancock; four children: Cory (Shelley) Evink of Morris, Amanda Evink of Sioux Falls, SD, Jason Evink of Hancock and Randy Evink of Hancock; one granddaughter: Kendel Evink; her parents: Richard and Corrine Schmidgall of Morris; six siblings: Nancy (Jim) Kaufmann of Towanda, IL, Robert (Kathryn) Schmidgall of Hancock, Brenda (Mark) Knobloch of Morris, Bruce (Penny) Schmidgall of Hancock, Lois (Chuck) Massner of Mediapolis, IA and Peggy (Tony) Ascheman of Hancock. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Pallbearers for the service are: Brant Kaufmann, Jeff Knobloch, Austin Schmidgall, Tyler Evink, Andrew Evink and Aaron Lien. Honorary pallbearers are: Tony Ascheman, Chuck Massner, Jim Kaufmann, Kevin Evink, Mike Evink, Wayne Lien, Vern Christie and Nate Christie. Lois Strei will serve as organist with Gary Strei serving as soloist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
