Mike Swanson

Raymond John “Mike” Swanson, son of Paul and Evelyn (Perry) Swanson, was born September 2, 1942 in Donnelly , Minnesota . Mike grew up in Hancock , MN , where he attended school. Following his schooling, he went to work at Hancock Concrete, where he continued to work for the next 36 years. On December 27, 1974 he was united in marriage to Monic Marianne Fersterer in Morris , Minnesota . The couple made their home in Hancock until the time of Mike’s death.

Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, card games, bird watching, coin collecting, puzzles, paintings, drawing and listening to the radio. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends.

Mike died on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris , MN , having lived to reach the age of 67 years.

He is survived by his wife: Monic Swanson on Hancock; three step-children: Susan (Stephen) Hayes of Flower Mound, TX, Greg (Patty) Verlo of Grand Lake, CO and Lisa Hiatt of Waite Park; five grandchildren: Eric Phillips, Megan Karnes, Jenny Verlo, Jason Karnes and Kendra Penke and three brothers: Ronald “Pete” Swanson of Eagan, Roger “Pat” Swanson of Hancock and Rod Swanson of Farmington. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Richard “Dick” Swanson.

Honorary pallbearers are: Dean Rohloff, Pat Swanson, Greg Verlo, Duke Greiner and Kerry Berget. Phyllis Joos will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
