Minnie Tirevold

April 30, 1915 — November 15, 2007

Minnie Irene Griese, daughter of Hiram and Rosa (Hagebuck) Griese, was born April 30, 1915 in Dolliver, Iowa, where she grew up and received her schooling. On September 16, 1933, she was united in marriage to Byron Tirevold. The couple made their home in the Dolliver area until March of 1940, when they moved to Chokio. The couple farmed in the area until 1979, when they retired. Byron died on May 6, 1980 and Minnie then moved into Chokio. She continued to live in Chokio until 1998, when she moved to Skyview Apartments in Morris. In 2005, she moved to Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson, MN, where she continued to live until the time of her death.



Minnie was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. She also belonged to the Chokio Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed fishing, puzzles, playing cards, crocheting and knitting, crossword puzzles and cryptograms. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.



Minnie died on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson, MN, having lived to reach the age of 92 years.



She is survived by three sons: Richard (Marilyn) Tirevold of Monticello, Dennis (Dolores) Tirevold of Cosmos and Lyle (Mable) Tirevold of Maple Grove; two daughters: Viola (Don) Olson of Swift Falls and Arlene Suckow; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Viola Hansen of Riceville, IA and Ina Hansen of Spirit Lake, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one infant son: Wayne; one infant daughter: Rose; one granddaughter: Susan; three great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; two brothers: Raymond Griese and Martin Griese; four sisters: Eva Griese, Edna Evans, Verna Snyder and Laura Kenney.

Pallbearers for the service are Richard Maras, Michael Maras, James Maras, Daryl Tirevold, Daniel Tirevold, Chad Tirevold, Douglas Tirevold, Gregory Tirevold and Edward Suckow. Honorary pallbearers are Minnie's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Julene Amborn will serve as organist for the service with Kathy Fynboh serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
