Myrtle MacIver

August 25, 1919 — May 29, 2007

Myrtle C. Molander, daughter of John and Charlotte Molander was born on August 25, 1919 in Ben Wade Township in Pope County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Norunga Lutheran Church in rural Lowry. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On November 27, 1943 she was united in marriage to Leonard MacIver at Norunga Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm south of Farwell where they raised their four children. In 1966, they sold their farm and moved to Lowry. In 1968 they moved to Starbuck where Myrtle continued to live until the time of her death. Leonard passed away on July 16, 1993.





Myrtle worked as a cook at Nodland's CafAC. and later on at the Minnewaska District Hospital as a cook. She was a member of the Norunga Lutheran Church where she was active in Sunday School, Luther League, Ladies Aid and also sang in various choirs. Myrtle enjoyed attending Sunday services at Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck. She enjoyed working with the Wings children, Vacation Bible School and going to Bible Study at Reverend Todd and Miriom Klemme's home. She was also an active volunteer at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home for many years. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family and all the great memories they shared at Birch Bay Resort in Brainerd.





Myrtle died suddenly on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital having lived to the age of 87 years old.





Myrtle is survived by her four children: Philip and Bonnie MacIver of Wahpeton, ND, Douglas and Gloria MacIver of Duluth, Marjorie and Dennis Guderian of Apple Valley, and Charlotte and Ronald Disrud of Starbuck; her nine grandchildren: Carrie and Rob Confare of Beaufort, SC, Cory and Kara MacIver of Makoti, ND, Todd MacIver and fiancAC. Abby Spychalla of Lindstrom, Jennifer and Todd Hinnenkamp of Hermantown, Julie and Mark Venhuizen of Duluth, Lisa Guderian of Plymouth, Lori and Kyle Anderson of Little Falls, Nicole and John Luepke of Miltona, and Amanda Disrud and fiancAC. Curt Ogdahl of Minneapolis; her eight great-grandchildren: Madelyn Confare, Kaylyn MacIver, Parker and Riley Hinnenkamp, Holland Venhuizen, Dylan Anderson, and Lynnea and Bria Luepke; her siblings: Irene and Stanley Magnuson of Lowry, LeRoy and R'Dell Molander of Lowry, Gladys and Robert Hawkinson of Anchorage, AK, Dorothy and Hub Nordgren of Henning, and JoAnn and David Opheim of Rockford, IL; also several nieces and nephews.





She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and brothers: Leonard and Wallace Molander.





Pallbearers for the service are all of Myrtle's grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are all of Myrtle's great-grandchildren. Julene Peterson will serve as organist for the service with Joy Smith serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
