Neil Sprouls

December 25, 1958 — June 3, 2011

Neil Joseph Sprouls, son of Duane and Rose (Kopel) Sprouls was born on December 25, 1958 at Morris, Minnesota. He grew up and attended school in Kensington, graduating from Kensington High School in 1977. After his graduation, Neil worked for two years for the Sooline Railroad, before working as a carpenter in the Kensington area for many years. Neil also worked for West Central Metal Fabricators at Alexandria, Minnesota as a welder, before being a self-employed welder. He was very creative and inventive; Neil loved working with his hands and could build or figure out anything. If he couldn't find exactly what he was looking for in a store, he invented it and made it on his own. As you enter Kensington, a sample of Neil's talent is displayed in the Kensington Welcome signs. He was also very proud of the work he did at the Our Lady of Runestone Catholic Cemetery.
Neil had a soft spot for his many nieces and nephews and their children. We could always count on him for his jokes at family gatherings. Neil knew every Saturday Night Live episode front to back. In recent years, he enjoyed spending days with Donna and working side by side with her. They also enjoyed taking their daily drive with the dogs.

Neil died on Friday, June 3, 2011 at his home in Kensington. He was 52 years old.

He is survived by his life partner Donna Hauglie and her son Mason Hauglie ; Kensington; two brothers, Daniel Sprouls, Moorhead and Jeff Sprouls, Kensington; three sisters, Michelle Sprouls and Wendy (Marvin) Rudell, all of Kensington, and Pamela (Shane) Henricks, West Fargo, ND; several aunts and uncles, and many nieces and nephews. Neil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Timothy and Patrick, a nephew, Uriah Rudell, and a great-nephew, Eddie Haack.
