Norma Amundson

July 17, 1917 — May 9, 2005

Norma Brown, daughter of Frank Sr. and Olla (Sells) Brown, was born July 17, 1917 in New Hartford, Iowa. At an early age she moved with her family to the Morris area, where she was baptized on December 17, 1959 at First Lutheran Church by Reverend Lowel Larson. She attended County School District #12. On January 22, 1935, she was united in marriage to Forrest Amundson. Norma worked as a waitress and then as a clerk in Loeffler and McRoberts Grocery Store. She later went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator and was later moved to the business office, where she retired from at the age of 65.

Norma was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, where she was a charter member and past president; she also served as president of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed playing golf, cards (especially bridge), bowling, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Norma died on Monday, May 09, 2005 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 87 years.

She is survived by her children: Raymond (Shirley) Amundson of Blaine, John (Deanna) Amundson of Westbrook and Karen (Pete) Rukavina of Fairmont; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one brother: Jack Brown of Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband; two children: Audrey Jahnke and David Amundson; her parents; fourteen brothers and sisters: Leta, Frank Jr, Ira, Mildred, Elizabeth, Margurite, Bernice, Leslie, Eugene, Russell, Kenneth, Richard, Paul and John.

Pallbearers for the service are: Norma?s grandchildren: Greg Wieczorek, Cindy Brovold, Bruce Jahnke, Brian Jahnke, David Jahnke, Doug Jahnke, Michele Amundson, Paul Rukavina, Johnathon Amundson and Donald Amundson. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
