Opal Heuer

August 23, 1915 — February 18, 2010

Opal Annie Rahrlien, daughter of Mike and Marie (Podtburg) Rahrlien, was born August 23, 1915 in Pepperton Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. Opal grew up and received her schooling in the Morris area. On October 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Orval Heuer. To this union three children were born. Following their marriage the couple made their home on a farm on Pomme de Terre Lake . When their children grew up and left home, Orval and Opal moved to the Twin Cities. Opal worked as a house keeper at Heritage of Edina for the next 20 years. Following her retirement, she became a resident at Hertiage for the remainder of her life. Orval died on March 5, 2000.





Opal was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church , which later became Faith Lutheran Church , where she served on the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed gardening, baking and crocheting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and babysitting for her grandchildren.





Opal died on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Tiffany of Edina in Edina , Minnesota , having lived to reach the age of 94 years.





She is survived by one son: Jim Heuer of Burnsville ; one daughter: Karen (Tom) Olson of West Bloomington; six grandchildren: Craig (Lisa) Kraayenbrink, Aimee (Paul) Olson, Carla (Christopher) Keiser, Chris (Mark) Sellner, Jennifer Heuer and Michael ( Shannon ) Heuer; eight great-grandchildren; one brother: Marvin (Betty) Rahrlien of Graceville and one sister: Luella Hall of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter: Betty Lou; her parents; two sisters: Lucille Zimmerman and Irene Cook; three brothers: infant twin brother: Frederick, Orville Rahrlien and Elmer Rahrlien.





Pallbearers for the service are: Craig Kraayenbrink, Mark Sellner, Paul Olson and Michael Heuer. Honorary pallbearers are: James “Jimmy” Heuer and Thomas Olson. Darlene Hennen will serve as pianist for the service, with Holly Giese serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
