Ray Sperr

Raymond Albert “Sparky” Sperr, son of Herman and Lillian (Most) Sperr, was born June 11, 1921 in Prescott , Wisconsin . Ray grew up in the Donnelly and Herman area, where he attended country school. He was confirmed in June, 1964 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman. On February 13, 1964, he was united in marriage to Dorothea Larson at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman by Reverend Larson. The couple lived in the Herman and Donnelly area, where Sparky devoted his life to farming, which he loved and was very successful at. When Ray and Dorothea retired from farming, they moved to Morris, where they have continued to live since that time.





Sparky has been a member of Bethel Lutheran Church since the 1950’s. He also belonged to several of the local sharpshooter Clubs, where he was awarded many medals. For the past 17 years, Sparky and Dorothea wintered in Arizona , where Sparky enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards with friends.





Sparky died on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris , Minnesota , having lived to reach the age of 89 years.





He is survived by his wife: Dorothea Sperr of Morris; special niece and her husband: Patricia and Jerry Peck and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sibling.





Pallbearers for the service are: Irving Sperr, Wayne Sperr, Jim Sperr, David Oachs, Craig Loge and Gary Weseman. Honorary pallbearers are: Kenny Johnson, Fred Sperr and Sparky’s many family members and friends. Olivia Richards will serve as organist for the service with Gregg Sperr serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
