Ronald Carlson

Funeral services for Ronald Carlson of Donnelly will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Elim Free Lutheran Church in Clinton. Reverend Richard Larson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Graceville Consolidated Cemetery, Graceville.

Ronald LeRoy Carlson, son of Roy and Margaret (Ewert) Carlson, was born March 31, 1941 in Prior Township in Big Stone County, Minnesota. He grew up attending various country schools until he was 16 when he went to work with his dad at his mechanic shop. On July 27, 1963, Ron was united in marriage to Sharon Miller. Following their marriage the couple lived in Lead, SD where Ron worked as a miner for Home Stake Gold Mine for 3 years. In 1965 they moved to Donnelly, where the family made their home. Ron worked for Cenex in Donnelly for a couple of years before doing road construction for many years. He then started working at the Morris Bus Garage and Morris Sealcoat & Trucking, where Ron continued to work for over 20 years until he passed away.

Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren and getting occasionally picked on by them. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, mechanics, fishing, and spending the winter months with his wife, Sharon, in Texas.

Ron died on January 26, 2015 at Renaissance Hospital in McAllen, TX, having lived to reach the age of 73 years.

He is survived by his loving wife: Sharon Carlson of Donnelly; three children: Mike Carlson of Donnelly, Peggy (Leon) Kellen of Clinton and Lisa (Pat) Dickey of St. Cloud; nine grandchildren; two brothers: Robert (Judy) Carlson of Belton, TX and Jerry Carlson of Holland, TX; three sisters: Jenny Bengston of Alexandria, Marilyn Homrighausen of Ortonville and Denise Carlson of Clinton; one brother-in-law: Jerry Stattleman of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: David Carlson; one sister: Caroline Stattleman; and his in-laws: Jim (Betty) Miller.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
