Ronald Hawkinson

July 6, 1943 — August 29, 2010

Ronald Eugene Hawkinson, son of Arthur and Verna (Benson) Hawkinson, was born July 6, 1943 in Morris, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Ron attended Cyrus and Morris Public Schools, graduating from Morris High School in 1961. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He received an honorable discharge in 1964. Ron was united in marriage to Leona Stromgren. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Coon Rapids, where they raised their daughter, Kimberly. In 1970, Ron graduated from Anoka Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, with a degree in Marketing Management and also worked for Ft. Howard Paper Company. Ron moved to Carrollton, Texas, where he continued to work for Ft. Howard Paper Company as Vice President of Marketing. He was united in marriage to Linda Harman. The couple moved to Alaska, where Ron worked for Odom Northwest Corporation for five years. They then moved to Plano, Texas and Ron worked for Orchid Paper Company. Linda died on August 21, 2007. Ron continued to live in Carrollton, Texas until his death on Sunday, August 29, 2010. He lived to reach the age of 67 years.



Ron was an avid golfer, a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.



He is survived by one daughter: Kim (Charles) Troth of Pilot Point, TX; one grandson: Justin Troth of Pilot Point, TX; his mother: Verna Hawkinson of Morris; one brother: Richard Hawkinson of Morris; two sisters: Sharon Chamberlin of Morris and Cheryl (Keith) Hawkinson of Morris and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda; his father; brother-in-law: Lloyd Chamberlin and nephew: Jay Soderholm.





Karl Retzlaff will serve as pianist for the service with Jere Solvie serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
