Ronnie Louks

December 27, 1968 — March 5, 2009

Ronald Dean “Ronnie” Louks, Jr, son of Ronald Dean Louks and Marie Olina Vangen, was born December 27, 1968 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ronnie grew up and lived many years in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis including: Coon Rapids, Zimmerman, Andover and Blaine. The last few years Ronnie has made his home in Elbow Lake, Ortonville, and currently in Morris, where he loved his apartment and the community very much.

Ronnie was a member and speaker for the Local Advisory Council on Mental Illness for adults and children. He also chaired and helped in many Twin Cities AA and NA groups and continued his participation in Morris. He always extended a helping hand or sympathetic ear to those in need.

Ronnie was a collector of many things. He was a rock hound and loved agates. He felt a close spirituality with the Native American culture and had many items that he cherished in his home. He loved to play guitar and had owned many different types at various times. He loved 80’s music and really enjoyed Heavy Metal. Ronnie and his dad loved to fish, hunt and travel together. He also liked watching wrestling and working on cars. Ronnie made us all happy and feel like kids on the 4 th of July as he would set off beautiful arrays of fireworks. He loved life and was always making plans to improve his in any way he could. He had a huge heart and he wanted to and did help people any way he could. When something looked like it might not work out he would say, “Oh, it will be fine,” and it always was. Ronnie would give you his last cent and go without if he felt you needed it more than he did, he’d always go the extra mile. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He could talk with anyone and make you feel like you’d known him forever. He’d just make you smile and feel good all over. If you hadn’t seen him for a long time after you began visiting it was as if a moment hadn’t passed.

Ronnie died on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at his home in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 40 years.
