Rosella Raasch

May 15, 1928 — July 10, 2006

Rosella Maybell Tomoson, daughter of Charles and Bertina (Larson) Tomoson, was born May 15, 1928 in Alberta, Minnesota. She was baptized on June 8, 1928 at First English Lutheran Church in Alberta by Pastor N. D. Peterson and was confirmed on June 14, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta by Reverend A. C. Olson. Rosie grew up in the Alberta area and also attended and graduated from Alberta High School in 1946. On September 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lavern Raasch at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alberta by Reverend James R. Sonnenberg. To this union two children were born, Richard and Ruth. The couple made their home seven miles south of Alberta, where they farmed, milked cows and raised pigs and chickens. In 1964, they moved one mile south of Alberta, to the Ralph Brenden farm, where Lavern and son, Richard continued to farm and began trucking. Rosie did all the book work and answered the phones for the business. Lavern and Rosie retired two miles north of Alberta. Lavern died on October 18, 1996. Rosie continued to live on the farm until 1998, when she moved to the Lakeview Good Samarian Center in Glenwood and where she has continued to live until the time of her death.

Rosie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, where she was an active member of the ladies aid. She was also a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #5039 and the American Legion in Morris. While she was a resident in the nursing home, she stayed involved in the daily activities and would enjoy going out whenever Ruth or anyone else would take her. When her grandchildren were small, she especially enjoyed taking care of them and spoiling them.

Rosie died on Monday, July 10, 2006 at the Lakeview Good Samarian Center in Glenwood, MN, having lived to reach the age of 78 years.

She is survived by: one son: Richard (Diane) Raasch of Sacred Heart; one daughter: Ruth Hawkinson of Glenwood; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; nine brothers and sisters: LeRoy (Carrie) Tomoson of St. Paul, Doug (Myrna) Tomason of Snohomish, WA, Phyllis Flannigan of Deerwood, Ronald Tomoson (and fiance: Miriam Connelly) of Grand Junction, CO, Charlotte (Robert) Stier of Alexandria, Charles (Char) Tomoson of Vashon Island, WA, Clifford (Dianne) Tomoson of Alexandria, Mary Scott of Alexandria and Mike Tomoson of Olatha, KS.
