Ruth Bentson

Memorial services for Ruth Bentson of Morris, MN will be held Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Pastoral Intern Chris Richards and Rev. Donald Burheim will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Ruth Evelyn Gangestad, daughter of Hans and Anna (Olson) Gangestad, was born August 1, 1926 on the family farm in Humboldt, Iowa, where she was baptized on September 5, 1926 and confirmed at Kenneth Lutheran Church in Kenneth, MN on September 8, 1940. Ruth grew up in the Iowa area and near Adrian, Worthington and Lismore, MN. She attended rural schools through the 8th grade and graduated in 1944 from Adrian High School in Adrian, MN. Following her schooling, Ruth began working at the Adrian State Bank and later at the Social Security Administration in Marshall, MN. Ruth was married on May 28, 1946 and to this union four children were born. In the mid 60's, the family moved to a dairy farm west of Donnelly. Ruth began working for the USDA in Morris and in the early 70's she worked as executive director of Grandview apartments. She was also the manager of Green River, Pacific Place and Cyrus Apartments and Martin and Nelson Law Offices. Ruth retired from Pacific and Cyrus, but to this day, she still managed Green River.

Ruth was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris. She enjoyed sewing, reading, watching tv, crossword puzzles and cooking.

Ruth passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on Saturday, April 18, 2015 with her cat Tilly by her side. She lived to 88 years.

She is survived by four children: Larry Bentson of Savage, Jean (Lyndon) Bruns of Herman, Carol (Ed) Beyer of Morris and Loriann Bentson of Donnelly; nine grandchildren: Chad Bruns, Carey Giese, B. J. Bentson, Dusty Bentson, Benjamin Fiebelkorn, Cameron Fiebelkorn, Adam Beyer, Sara Beyer and Ryan Beyer; six great-grandchildren: Amber, Taylor and Jacey Giese, Kylee Bentson and Jameson and Adilynn Fiebelkorn ; two step-great-grandchildren: Casandra and Keith Potts. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Harold and Emmett Gangestad; sisters: Helen and Mildred Gangestad and Aldine Madison and daughter-in-law: Jan Bentson.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
