Vernon Lyle Mohr, the sixth child of twelve of Robert and Aileen (Giese) Mohr was born on October 3, 1947 in Morris, Minnesota. He was baptized as an infant on October 26, 1947 by Pastor E. Meischner and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Reverend Roth. He grew up and attended school in Morris, graduating from Morris High School in 1965. In his high school years, Vern worked for Willie's Red Owl as "carry out boy #21"! After his graduation, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1970, he met Anita Christianson at the old Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood. The couple was united in marriage on April 3, 1971 at Glenwood Lutheran Church. In 1973, they moved to Morris, where Vern began working for Mohr Plumbing and Heating with his father and brother. In 1979, Vern took a position as the licensed master plumber with the University of Minnesota, Morris at the heating plant, retiring in 2002.

Vern had fond memories of spending his childhood summer vacations at Grandma and Grandpa Giese's farm on the shores of Lake Hattie and later on the Mohr Family Farm in Horton Township as "cheap child labor"! He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and woodworking. Vern also enjoyed coaching Babe Ruth and Little League baseball teams in Morris. He and Anita loved traveling together taking many trips; some special journeys include: Norway, Ireland, Germany, Iceland, Italy and Alaska. Vern always enjoyed his Wyoming hunting trips and camping at Voyagers National Park.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humor and his relentless teasing of family and friends. The greatest joy of Vern's life was his children and grandchildren; "Papa" loved teaching them both "good and bad things"! His family will miss dearly his special Christmas meals, homemade bread, caramel rolls and lefse.

At the age of 32, Vern accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was re-baptized in the Pomme de Terre River.

Vern died on Friday, February 20, 2015, surrounded by his family, at his home in Morris. He was 67 years old.
