Warren Aaberg

October 2, 1923 — August 2, 2009

Warren Otis Aaberg, son of Hans and Clara (Dokken) Aaberg, was born October 2nd, 1923 at his parents home in Starbuck where he grew up and professed Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 15.  He attended Country School in Starbuck and Benson.  At age 15 he started driving truck for his brother Harris.  In January 1942 he enlisted in the US Navy where he served in WWII on Cruisers and Submarines in the South Pacific.  On November 13th 1943 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Ethel Simpson in New Haven, CT.  In September 1945 he received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy.  After the war, Warren was employed at the local Chevrolet and Internal Harvester Dealerships while still living in Connecticut.  They returned to Minnesota where he owned Aaberg Radio & TV in Benson, Warren's Texaco and Warren Labratories in Minneapolis. He then started working for KSTP TV in St. Paul, where he retired after 17 years as the Master Control Engineer. Warren and Eleanor then moved to Starbuck.




Warren was a member of VFW Post 4582 in Starbuck.  He enjoyed model aviation, automotive and mechanical challenges, using his creative mind and hands, learning and teaching, and expressing how important it is to preserve Faith and Freedom.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.





Warren died on Sunday, August 2, 2009 in his home with his family at the age of 85.




He is survived by his wife: Eleanor Aaberg, six children: Timothy (Natalie) Aaberg of Winterset, IA, Nancy (Tommy) Brooks of Las Vegas, NV, Jonathan (Gwen) Aaberg of Lakeville, MN, Marjory (Joel) Young of Magnolia, TX, Karl (Diane) Aaberg of Las Vegas, NV, and Glenda (Steve) Kvale of Balaton MN; 17 grandchildren;  3 great-grandchildren; sisters: Florence Swenson of Starbuck, Ruby (Ervin) VanKempen of Starbuck, MN and Bernice Cretelli of Glenwood, MN, brother Norman Aaberg of Blaine, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Cora Hoium, Myrtle Lee, Gladys Ward and Dorothy Aaberg; brothers: Harris Aaberg and Arvin Aaberg.




Pallbearers for the service are: Tim Aaberg, Jon Aaberg, Karl Aaberg, Jason Kvale, Steve Kvale, Aaron Byrd. Wayne Wood will provide special music for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
